Privacy
What we store about you, why, and how to get it deleted. Last updated 12 October 2026.
Without an account
- Scores, tides and mark pages work without signing in, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- If you share your location, it's used to find marks near you. We round it to about 1 km and keep it in a cookie on your device (if_place) so the home page remembers it; it isn't stored on our servers.
- If you answer a local question or send a visit report, a random ID in a cookie (if_voter) stops repeat answers. We store only a scrambled (hashed) version of it, never your IP address.
- Sponsor cards count how many times they were seen and clicked, as totals per card. Nothing links that to you.
With a free account
- Your email address, and your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google. We use them to sign you in and send the emails and alerts you choose.
- What you add: followed marks and alert settings, visit reports, catches you log, and any catch photos. Catches and photos are private to you; other people only ever see totals across many anglers.
- A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 90 days.
Sponsors
- Your business details and contact email. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you asked for (signing in, alerts, your catch log and sponsorship), and our legitimate interest in keeping the site working, fair and free of spam.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who helps us run it
- DigitalOcean hosts the site and database, managed with Coolify.
- Brevo sends our emails. Google handles "Continue with Google". Stripe takes sponsor payments.
- Anthropic (Claude) suggests the fish in a catch photo you upload and helps rate marks; photos sent for a suggestion aren't used to train their models.
- Open-Meteo answers place searches; we send it the place name you type, not who you are.
How long we keep it
- Account data, reports and catches stay until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes. Sponsor records are kept for 6 years after the last payment for tax purposes.
Your rights
- You can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it. We'll do it within a month.
- If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
To ask about your data or delete your account, email us through the advertise page.
