Turbot
Scophthalmus maximus · Flatfish

A large, almost round left-eyed flatfish of sand, mud and mixed ground that comes inshore in spring and early summer; a prized shore and boat catch.[1]
How to recognise it

- Baits
- ragworm, lugworm, peeler crab, mackerel, herring, sandeel[1]

Spring and early summer is the best time for shore anglers, as turbot move into shallower water; they are hard to find from the shore in deep winter.[1]
