Thursday 15 October from 22:30 to 01:30 is the best window, helped by a dark, moonless sky, a light westerly breeze, slight seas and the tide three hours into the flood. Friday 16 October from 23:30 to 02:00 is a close second, with flat calm seas and a slightly warmer-than-usual sea temperature of 13.3°C, though the part moon makes it a little less dark.
